Planet Awarded NASA Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition (CSDA) Evaluation Task Order for Tanager Hyperspectral Data

Planet Labs Federal, a subsidiary of Planet Labs PBC, was awarded a NASA CSDA evaluation task order for its Tanager hyperspectral data, with NASA to assess more than 250,000 square kilometers of archive and newly tasked coverage. The evaluation spans Level 1C and Level 2A products from Tanager's imaging spectrometer across Earth science areas including atmospheric composition, biodiversity, hydrology, geology, and rapid wildfire and flood response. The milestone follows Tanager-2's October 1, 2026 launch and rapid first light, including detection of a methane plume over Spain's Costa Blanca.
