GENC: 8-K · earnings release
Gencor Industries reported Q2 FY2026 net revenue of $33.8 million, an 11.5% decline year-over-year, and net income of $3.8 million, a 37% drop from the prior year. The earnings miss was primarily driven by a $3.2 million increase in trade show expenses, which rose from $345,000 to $3.5 million, alongside lower contract equipment revenues due to seasonal timing.
Despite the earnings decline, gross profit margins improved by 200 basis points to 31.7%, reflecting strong manufacturing execution. The company highlighted a record backlog of $60.5 million, more than double the $27.8 million reported in the prior year, citing continued flow of IIJA funding obligations to states.
Gencor ended the quarter with a strong balance sheet, holding $155.1 million in cash and marketable securities with no outstanding debt. Management expressed confidence in sustainable performance for the remainder of fiscal 2026 and into fiscal 2027, supported by the record backlog and improved margins.
