Sunshine Silver Mining & Refining Expands Silver Valley Land Position by 60% to Approximately 38,000 Acres and Initiates Multi-Year, 45,000-Meter District-Scale Exploration Program
Sunshine Silver Mining & Refining (NYSE: SSMR) expanded its consolidated mineral rights position in Idaho's Silver Valley by approximately 14,100 acres, or 60%, to roughly 38,000 acres, making it the largest mineral rights holder in the most prolific silver district in U.S. history.
The company simultaneously initiated a multi-year, 45,000-meter surface exploration drilling program targeting three drill-ready areas — East Sunshine, Rock Creek and Pine Creek — with surface drilling expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The targets came out of a 2025 reconnaissance field program that logged 322 man-days of fieldwork, 128 rock samples and 2,935 soil samples, while the separate 50,000-meter underground in-fill program at the Sunshine Mine remains on track for October completion, with downshaft results expected in Q4 2026.
CEO Heather White said much of the expanded land has seen limited modern exploration, leaving significant discovery potential beyond the current Sunshine Mine footprint, though no program budget or new resource estimate was disclosed.
