The Signal8 Discord Channels and What Each One Claims

The short version
Signal8 runs a Discord server with two kinds of channels: a small community area open to everyone, and a large set of automated alert channels posted by the Signal8 bot. The automated channels are visible to members with the Signal8 Pro role. Members can read them but not post in them.
Every alert channel is built around one narrow claim, such as "this company filed an 8-K" or "FINRA recorded this security leaving the OTC market". Knowing exactly what a channel claims, and what it does not, is the difference between reading the feed correctly and over-reading it. This guide groups the channels by what drives them.
Getting access
- Join the server from the Discord link in the Signal8 site's sidebar footer. Everyone can see the community channels: welcome, announcements and free-chat.
- In Signal8, open the Connections tab on your account page and click Link Discord. Once linked, the page shows the Discord account it is linked to and an Unlink button. A Discord account can be linked to only one Signal8 account.
- If your Signal8 account is on Pro, the bot gives your Discord account the Signal8 Pro role, which reveals the alert channels and pro-chat.
The bot re-checks entitlements regularly, so the role follows your plan.
Filing and press release feed channels
The largest group is an AI-classified feed of SEC filings and press releases, split two ways:
By market cap bracket: Nano cap (under $50M), Microcap ($50M to $300M), Small cap ($300M to $2B), Mid cap ($2B to $10B), Large cap ($10B to $200B) and Mega cap (over $200B), plus a Foreign private issuer bracket and an Unclassified channel for companies whose market cap is not available.
By form group (filings only): 8-K current reports, 10-Q, 10-K, prospectuses such as the 424B5, S-1, S-3 shelf registrations, S-8, Schedule 13D/13G, proxy material, merger and tender offer documents, delisting and deregistration notices, late-filing notices, and other forms. The foreign bracket uses its own groups: 6-K, 20-F, 40-F, F-1, F-3, F-4 and other foreign forms.
Each post carries the company name and filing time at the top, the AI summary, any key figures and red flags the analysis found, and buttons to the company on Signal8, the Terminal and the source document. Form 4s are not posted here; they have their own channel.
What a feed post claims: that this document was filed or published and that the analysis read it this way. It does not claim the classification is right, and a post with no red-flag section means none were listed, not that the filing is free of risk.
Corporate event channels
- #reverse-splits. Tracks each reverse split through stages: PROPOSED, SHAREHOLDER-APPROVED, ANNOUNCED, EFFECTIVE TOMORROW, IN EFFECT TODAY, TOOK EFFECT, plus DISCLOSED when the filing does not establish a stage. A second source posts on the market effective date. A depositary share ratio change is labelled with an ADS RATIO suffix, because it is not a split of the ordinary shares.
- #bankruptcy. Stages include DISCLOSED, RESTRUCTURING AGREEMENT, BANKRUPTCY / RECEIVERSHIP (ITEM 1.03), DEREGISTERED and EMERGED FROM BANKRUPTCY. There is deliberately no "filed" stage, because 8-K Item 1.03 covers both a petition and a later court order. A ticker is not reposted for 72 hours unless its stage advances.
- #delisting-alerts. Two sources: 8-K Item 3.01 deficiency notices and related events from a nightly sweep, and the AI feed's Form 25, Form 15 and foreign notices. The two are de-duplicated by accession number.
- #uplistings. Built from FINRA's OTC daily list, which records a security leaving the OTC market for Nasdaq, NYSE, NYSE American or NYSE Arca, usually in the early morning Eastern Time. If the new exchange ticker could not be matched, the post names the old OTC symbol and says the new one was not resolved, rather than guessing.
Insider and political trading channels
- #insider-trades. Open-market purchases and sales (codes P and S) from Form 4 filings above a dollar threshold, led by the time the filing became public, with a daily digest in the evening.
- #cluster-buys. Posted when three or more insiders buy the same stock within 14 days.
- #congress-trades. STOCK Act disclosures by senators and representatives.
- #executive-trades. Executive-branch disclosures on OGE Form 278-T. Entries without a ticker, such as bonds and funds, are counted in the digest rather than posted individually.
A disclosure is a report of a past trade. Congressional disclosures can be filed weeks after the trade date, and the post reflects when it was filed.
Market activity channels
- #halts. Trading halts from Nasdaq's public halt feed, edited when trading resumes. Times render in each reader's own timezone, because the halt is usually still in progress while you read it.
- #borrow-scanner. Changes in short borrow availability: a stock becoming unborrowable, a borrow fee spike, or a collapse in available supply. By default limited to companies up to $2B market cap.
- #running-today. Regular-session runners, posted the first time a stock reaches each rung: up 30%, 75%, 150% and 300% on the day.
- #yesterdays-runners. A scheduled recap of the previous session's gainers of 20% or more. It is deliberately a day behind, because the complete daily data it uses publishes overnight. Each runner can carry a catalyst tag, which names an event tagged to the company, not the cause of the move.
Social and news wire channels
- #social-feed. Mirrors posts from a curated list of X accounts. It names no company, because posts are not resolved to a ticker.
- News wire channels, grouped under a NEWS category (geopolitics, central banks, oil, big tech and others), exist in the server but depend on a wire source that is not currently connected, so expect them to be quiet.
How to use Signal8 alongside Discord
- Discord shows the same events for everyone with the role. For alerts on only the companies you follow, set up Signal8 alerts on your watchlist.
- Every company-specific post links to the company page, so you can check the underlying filing on the SEC filings feed.
FAQ
How do I get access to the Signal8 Pro Discord channels?
Join the server, then link your Discord account from the Connections tab on your Signal8 account page. If your account is on Signal8 Pro, the bot assigns the Signal8 Pro role, which reveals the alert channels and pro-chat. Free members can use the community channels.
Why did a Discord alert arrive days after the filing?
The filing feed channels depend on an upstream analysis that sometimes processes older filings in batches. Each post shows the filing's own date and time at the top, so check that header rather than the time the message appeared. A late post is a late analysis, not a new filing.
Does a Discord alert mean I should trade the stock?
No. Each channel reports one narrow fact, such as a filing being made or a halt starting, and nothing posted is a recommendation. Catalyst tags on the runners recap name events tagged to the company, not the reason a stock moved.
Can I post in the alert channels?
No. Alert channels are read-only for members; only the bot posts there. Conversation happens in free-chat, which is open to everyone, and pro-chat, which is visible to members with the Signal8 Pro role.
