The short version
Every listed company on Signal8 has a research page at /companies/EXCHANGE:TICKER, for example AAPL. The page has three layers: a header with the price and a row of key metrics, a tab row that splits the research into topics, and the tab body, which on the default Overview tab is a grid of cards.
Most of the page is readable without an account. Some cards need a free account, and a few research surfaces (the dilution snapshot, AI filing analysis) are part of Signal8 Pro, the single paid plan. Where a card is gated, it shows a locked preview rather than disappearing, so you can see what is there before deciding whether you need it.
Getting to a company page
You can type a ticker into the site search, or go straight to the URL. A few routing details are worth knowing:
/companies/AAPLwith no exchange prefix redirects to the canonical address with the exchange in front, for example/companies/Nasdaq:AAPL.- The Overview tab has no URL segment. Every other tab adds one:
/companies/Nasdaq:AAPL/financials,/dilution,/news,/filingsand so on. - If the ticker is an ETF, you are redirected to the ETF research page under
/etfsinstead. - An old link ending in
/financingstill works and opens the Dilution tab.
The header
The header sits at the top of every tab. On the left is the company name and ticker, the last price, and the day's change in dollars and percent. Outside regular hours a second line shows the extended-hours price, labelled Pre-Market or After Hours.
Next to the price is a row of metric pills:
| Pill | What it is |
|---|---|
| Mkt Cap | Market capitalization: price × shares outstanding |
| Float | Shares available to trade, see public float |
| Shares O/S | Shares outstanding |
| SI | Short interest as a percentage |
| Inst Own | Institutional ownership as a percentage |
Some of these values can show as locked if the card behind them needs an account. On covered companies the header can also show a Dilution bar banded Low, Moderate, High or Critical, which is a compact view of the score explained in the Dilution Pressure Score guide.
When you scroll down, a compact strip slides in at the top so the ticker and price stay visible.
The tab row
The tabs appear in this order. Not every company shows every tab, because a tab with nothing to show is hidden.
| Tab | URL segment | When it appears |
|---|---|---|
| Overview | none | Always |
| Financials | financials | Always |
| Dilution | dilution | Always (it explains when a company is outside dilution coverage) |
| News | news | When the company has news articles |
| SEC Filings | filings | When the company has an SEC CIK number |
| Clinical Trials | clinical-trials | For biotech companies with an SEC CIK |
Two more tabs exist in the code, Shorts and Legal, but each is behind a feature switch that is not turned on for the public site at the time of writing, so most readers will not see them.
At the end of the tab row is a bell icon. It adds the company to your watchlist, which is also the starting point for alerts. On desktop, when the Terminal is enabled, an Open on Terminal button at the far right opens the same ticker in the Signal8 Terminal in a new tab.
The Overview tab
The Overview is the default view. Its main element is a price chart, followed by cards. Each card is gated independently, so a logged-out visitor can see some cards in full and a locked teaser for others. The cards you are most likely to see:
- Signal8 Summary. A generated narrative of what is going on with the company, with a "Summary generated … ago" timestamp and a control to refresh it. It is hidden for upcoming IPOs and can be switched off for a specific company.
- Key Metrics and Company Overview. Valuation and trading figures, plus the business description, sector and industry.
- Analyst Coverage. Analyst ratings and targets where available.
- Insider Trading. Recent Form 4 transactions by officers, directors and large holders.
- Congressional Holders and politician trades. STOCK Act disclosures that name this ticker.
- Cluster Buys. Shown only when several insiders bought within a short window; hidden when there are none.
- Shareholders. Institutional holders from 13F reports.
- 52-Week Range, Volume, Earnings, Ticker Events, Dividend History. Trading and calendar context.
- Compliance Status. Exchange listing compliance, such as deficiency notices.
- Corporate Events. Notable 8-K events, hidden when empty.
A Your Position card exists for linked brokerage accounts, but the portfolio feature behind it is switched off on the public site, so you should not expect to see it.
The other tabs
- Financials holds the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement, plus cash burn and runway views.
- Dilution holds the dilution snapshot: shelf registrations, ATM programs, warrants, convertibles, cash runway and the pressure score. It has its own guide: The Dilution tab, card by card.
- News lists articles and press releases tagged to the company.
- SEC Filings lists the company's EDGAR filings with form types and dates.
- Clinical Trials shows the company's trial pipeline, for biotech companies only.
What needs an account or Pro
The split, as configured in the code at the time of writing:
- No account needed: the header, price chart, Key Metrics, Company Overview, Analyst Coverage, earnings and the news list.
- Free account: many of the ownership and trading cards (Insider Trading, Shareholders, Volume, 52-Week Range, Compliance Status), the Signal8 Summary, and the dilution score and risk ratings.
- Signal8 Pro: the full dilution snapshot on the Dilution tab and AI analysis of individual filings and news items. Pro is $59 a month or $588 a year; the upgrade button shows the annual plan's monthly equivalent.
Tier assignments can be changed by Signal8 without a code change, so treat the lock icon on the page as the source of truth.
How to use the company page on Signal8
- Open any ticker directly, for example AAPL, or jump straight to a tab such as the SEC Filings tab.
- Use the bell at the end of the tab row to add the company to your watchlist.
- Switch to a denser multi-panel layout with Open in Terminal.
FAQ
Why is a tab missing on some company pages?
Tabs with nothing to show are hidden. The News tab disappears when there are no articles for the company, SEC Filings needs an SEC CIK (some Canadian and OTC rows do not have one), and Clinical Trials appears only for biotech companies. The Dilution tab is always shown; for a company outside dilution coverage it says so.
Is the Signal8 company page free to use?
Much of it is. The header, price chart, key metrics, company overview and news are visible without an account. A free account unlocks most ownership and trading cards. The full dilution snapshot and AI filing analysis are part of Signal8 Pro, $59 a month or $588 a year. Locked cards show a preview so you can see what they contain.
What is the difference between Float and Shares O/S in the header?
Shares O/S is every share the company has issued and not bought back. Float counts only the shares that can realistically trade, excluding shares held by insiders and affiliates and shares that are restricted from sale. Float is always equal to or smaller than shares outstanding, and the gap tells you how much stock is held off the market.
How do I open the same company in the Signal8 Terminal?
On desktop, use the Open on Terminal button at the right end of the tab row when it is shown. It opens a new tab with the symbol already loaded. You can also open the Terminal directly and type the ticker into its search box, or press Ctrl-K (Cmd-K on a Mac) to focus the search.
Terms in this guide
- Public float
- The shares of a company held by investors other than its officers, directors and controlling holders, or their market value; the SEC uses the dollar figure for form eligibility.
- Form 4
- The SEC filing that officers, directors and holders of more than 10% must make within two business days to report a change in their holdings of the company's securities.
- Form 13F
- A quarterly SEC report in which institutional investment managers with at least $100 million in qualifying US securities list their long holdings, filed within 45 days of quarter end.
- Form 8-K
- The SEC current report a public company files, generally within four business days, to disclose specified material events such as agreements, offerings, executive changes and listing notices.
