Halts by halt code

All halts recorded since July 2, 2026. Nasdaq replaces a news halt's code when quoting resumes (T1 becomes T3), and the original code has been recorded since September 2026, so earlier news halts appear under their later code. The news total is not affected.

Methodology

Source. The Nasdaq Trader trade halt feed, which lists trading halts in securities on every US listing market, including Nasdaq, NYSE, NYSE American and NYSE Arca. Signal8 reads the feed every few minutes and keeps every halt it lists. Records begin on July 2, 2026; earlier halts are not included, and the first month is counted from that date.

One halt. One security halted at one time. A security halted several times in a day counts once per halt. Securities include common stocks, ETFs, warrants and other listed securities, not only companies.

Groups. Volatility pauses are Limit Up-Limit Down pauses (codes LUDP, LUDS and M, plus T5). News-related halts are codes T1 (news pending), T2 (news released) and T3 (news and resumption times). Regulatory halts are codes T12, H4, H9, H10 and H11. Every other code is counted as other. Code D, which Nasdaq uses when it deletes a security from its system, is not counted as a halt.

Month and hours. The month is the US Eastern calendar month in which the halt began. Regular trading hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET on weekdays. The current month is month to date.

Duration. The time from the start of a halt to the last trade resumption time the feed published for it. A halt with no published resumption time is left out of the median. The feed updates the resumption time when a halt is extended, and the time a security actually reopens can differ from it. News-related halts are measured only when they began during regular trading hours, because a halt that begins after the close continues overnight. Over the whole period that is 53 halts, so that median rests on a small base.

Most-halted securities. Halts per symbol over the 30 and 90 days before the date the page was calculated. Ties are listed alphabetically.

Not included. The reason behind a halt beyond the code the exchange published, and stock price moves around halts, are not reported.
